Jeeves came to. He felt the grip around his wrists and instantaenously supported himself against it so that he could raise his feet to strike the foe that had dared to grab him from behind.
He wished he hadn't.
What he felt was like pain, but as if the very core of his being was being ripped out through his feet. He recoiled quickly, and fell to the floor, insofar as his bindings would allow, and took stock.
His mind throbbing from whatever it was that had just taken place, he could see that he was in a smallish room, that was apparently built from blackness. He could see where his feet had previously been touching the wall, a shimmering light was swirling, growing ever smaller as if it was being drawn out into the dark. He looked at his wrists, slick blue steel manacles bound each, and a chain protuded and tied him to the black surface that stood as a wall. At this point, a cold, white light shone on him from behind. He noted that the light didn't stop at the blackness in front of him as it would on a solid surface, but passed into it, and rippled away into the distance. He turned squinting to face the light now, and found himself staring blindly at the sillhouette of his guard.
The being could have appeared human. However, his tar black skin, and spines that ran the length of his arms imprinted themselves in black on the white light backround, and dictated otherwise. The cold white eyes met with Jeeves' own. Jeeves' vision filled with light and his head exploded with pain, as he found himself tumbling through time and space, to meet with blackness.
When he came to once more, he found himself on a cold, obsidian floor.
"'Bout time you got here"
"Mac?" He breathed
"The very same," came the reply from the etheric light. As Jeeves' eyes adjusted, he could see that his arms were now loose, and that he was in a more conventional cage than before. And all around he could see this etheric glowing white. As he looked around, there were sillhouettes of other cages surrounding him, floating in this sea of white.
"How are we doing?" Said Jeeves, a wry grin spreading across his face.
"Same as always"
"That well huh?"
They both chuckled.
"Where are we?" Said Jeeves standing, and embracing his friend.
"The Engine room" Came a Texan twang.
"That voice!" Said Jeeves and Mac together.
A man in a military uniform was walking across the light towards them, his figure marked out by a black sillhouette. Ripples of black flowed from his feet, like water drops in a pond. He had a broad frame, and a hard, square, though wrinkled face. The scar across his cheek reflected the white around him.
"I killed you... with a good deal of satisfaction, I might add." Jeeves spoke slowly and calmly, but the tone of anger in his voice was unmistakable. "And why are you on the outside of this cage?"
A sneer sparked across the general's face. "I negotiated a deal. I tell the Krimmen everything I know about you, how to defeat you, and they let me and my family live our lives in peace and under their protection."
"So, not satisfied with having been responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people, you thought you would hand over the remaining members of the human race as well?" Spat Mac.
"No, the Chinkies and Jappos were just dead," retorted the uniformed man. "Look around you... this place," he said, waving his arms for effect, "is fueled by human life."
Jeeves and Mac now looked inside the other cages. The people within looked just like any other human being, but something in the eyes just didn't look right, as if they weren't seeing and they just stared blankly in one direction.
"What has been done to them?" Said Jeeves, quietly.
"You'll know soon enough" said the General gruffly. "The Krimmen have taken great exception to you, you know, you're going to be accellerated, They sent me to find you. The general looked up at the cieling. "I have them" he said. And the light appeared to engulf him. "Have fun" he said.
Suddenly, the floor beneath them leaped upward, and Jeeves and Mac both fell to the ground with the sudden rush. Jeeves clutched his head once more with pain, and blacked out once more.
